'On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies'

On June 30th. 1905, Albert Einstein published "On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies", in the German Journal Annalen der Physic (Annals of Physics). It was in this paper that Einstein introduced to the world what was to become known as the special theory of relativity.

There are many books and web sites published on the special theory of relativity. Both the general interest reader and the serious student are well catered for. So, why another web site? The purpose of this site is to pay a very humble personal tribute to Albert Einstein in this centenary year of the famous 1905 paper.

The content of this site not only explains the principles of the special theory of relativity. It tells the story of how from Archimedes on, minds through history have woven ideas to culminate in the special theory of relativity.

The story will show that as great a mind as Einstein had, to paraphrase the epitaph on Newton's tomb, to see further than other men he stood on the shoulders of giants.
